The following 14 players represented Old Scouts U8’s in home friendly against Oundle at home:
Oliver, Sophie, Alex, Zach, James M, James K, Hayden, Frankie, Lucca, George, Sonny, James M, Lucas, Ben, Marcus.
The Scouts played 4 friendly matches over 2 hours on Sunday morning.
The first match saw Oliver, Sophie, Alex, Zach, James K, Hayden and Frankie start the first half, and then Lucca, George, Sonny, James M, Lucas, Ben and Marcus come on for the second half. The match was a close game with both teams taking the lead and then coming back from behind to draw level, the result being a draw 6-6, with Scouts unlucky not to knick the game in the closing moments. Tries were scored by: Sophie, Ben, Alex (2) and George (2). This was James M, James K and Lucas’s first game of the year and they all played really well in both tagging and passing to the rest of the team, well done!
The Second Game saw the same seven start and the same seven come on in the second half, and once again the game ebbed and flowed and ended in another 6-6 draw!! There was some really good all round performances in this game, culminating in 6 different try scorers; Oliver, Sophie, Hayden, Frankie (powering down the wing!), George and Marcus.
The Third games of the morning saw the Scouts use 9 of the 14 squad available, Oliver, Sophie, Alex, Zach, Hayden, Frankie, George, Sonny and Marcus. Once again the game ended in another draw!!! This time 9-9, with the scouts coming back from 5-4 down at half time. Try scorers in this game were: Oliver, Zach, Hayden, Frankie, Sonny, George (2) and Sophie (2).
The fourth game involved some of the players from the previous game, and some players who were not in the last game, James K, Lucca, James M, Lucas and Ben. This game ended with Oundle winning 8-5, the first defeat of the day for the Scouts, of the 5 tries scored for the scouts an Amazing 4 came from Oliver and 1 from Frankie.
The squad did really well and showed many of the skills they have been practicing over the last few weeks in training; it was great to see the whole team working together in matches against different opposition.
