Scouts just edged out

This week the Old Scouts travelled to Kettering to play in there mini festival. Once again a fantastic effort was made by the whole team.
In there first match they come up against a much improved Wellingboro side. The Scouts did not really wake up and some poor decision making meant they only won the match by 2 try's. there second match was awarded a by as the team from Leicester never showed up.Onto the final pool game and a much needed win against the Old Northantonians looked to be on the cards, what seemed to be a try was given as held up, and the Scouts could not create the final move to finish the match which ended as a draw 0-0. Which put the Scouts threw to the semi as pool runners up. In the semi the Scouts were to meet Kettering who as normal put up a good contest. The Scouts though wanted to make the final for the second week running and carried this out and certainly did not hold any prisoners smashing Kettering 20-0.
Onto the final against Old Northantonians who they met in the pool stages, what was probably the best game of the day.But this time the Scouts did not make there strength count some tired legs and a few missed tackles let the ON's take the lead. A penalty awarded to the Scouts 5 metres out saw Max Evans take a tap and go but produced a fantastic pass out wide which saw Harry Stacey just make the line and bringing the game back to 5-5. The Old Scouts took the restart but in stead of keeping ball in hand they tried the kick and chace game which was then saw the ON's kick the ball out into touch.
The Scouts effort was not quite good enough as they lost by 1 try on count back.

Match 1 Old Scouts 10 Wellingboro 0

Player of the week went to Luke Esson for his effort up front.
