Our first match back since lockdown saw us make a fairly slow start, making some unforced errors and not creating the space we needed to move the ball down the court. The attack chased down the ball and the defence started to find their rhythm but we finished the quarter down 5-15. In the second quarter the team started to play the netball we know we can and the defence got some fantastic intercepts and tips allowing the ball to be turned and converted. Unfortunately our positioning throughout the court sometimes led to us crowding and hence reducing the options available and Brigg were able to take the advantage with the half time score 11-24.

In the third quarter some new combinations were tried and the team played some great netball and the quarter went goal for goal with some excellent feeds into the circle by the attack. The defence again played their part and got a good number of intercepts creating the options needed to bring the ball down the court in our favour. We just missed out on drawing this quarter and Brigg increased their lead to 20-34. In the final quarter, Brigg had found their stride and missed very few opportunities to score. Defence worked hard in the circle but were unable to stop the Brigg shooters and the final score was 27-49. Unfortunately our slow start was our undoing and the final result doesn’t reflect the way the game felt.

On her debut for Storm, Sarah got MVP for her crucial intercepts / rebounds, positioning for rebounds and thinking ahead throughout the game. Overall we loved being back on court and look forward to what the rest of the season will bring.
