NBRFC 84 - Livingston 0

With both sides struggling to fulfil this fixture scheduled for Saturday because players are travelling to Wales to support Scotland it was decided to play on Wednesday night. Many thanks to Musselburgh rugby club who provided the pitch & facilities, & also to the referee who turned out on a cold and wet night. The mid-week date caught a few players out and right up to KO Livingston were still gathering players in from all corners, including a last-minute taxi ride from Waverly station. The game started a little late & was played throughout with great attitude from both sides.
NB started strongly, clearly with an eye on the end of season league positions, and man of the match from Saturday Stuart Lorimer scored three tries in 13 minutes. Danny Darrie followed up on 19 minutes to secure the bonus point and make the score 26 - 0 with three conversions from Gus Elder. But even with this lead NB didn't let up & more tries arrived - Craig Simpson on 27 minutes, Rob Lovett on 30 & Findlay Graham on 32. All were converted by Elder to make it 47 - 0 at half time.
Second half saw all the substitutes used & got off to a quick start with Simpson scoring on just 41 minutes. The successful conversion by Elder was to be the last of the match as Livingston dug in & pushed the scorers out wide. They started to get some possession & to string their passes along the line, but NB were eager to snuff out any attacks & regain the ball. Nick Hart scored on 46 minutes, Alex McKay on 49, Connor Johnson on 50, Fraser Gilvray on 56, Frankie Armstrong on 62 before Lorimer finished off another man of the match performance with his 4th try on 76 minutes.
Credit to Livingston who stuck to their task right until the final whistle, & also to the NB supporters who came along to support their team.
