More Jaunts from the NGU Supporters club Bude branch

Cornwall calling, Cornwall calling…
Firstly, the post Office have just delivered to me 20 sacks of correspondence complaining that I did not put an answer up to the quiz I set a few weeks ago. The answer of course is Manchester United v St Etienne..
On to my West Country travels, well I have stayed in Bude again for the weekend.
Saturday saw a visit from St Dennis Reserves to Bude. A few weeks ago St Dennis were due to play down the road at Morwenstow, but had to forfeit as they couldn’t get a team together. When I got to the game I was told by Pete on the gate that they only had 8 men. MM I said, apparently they have a bit of a reputation for this sort of thing. Still when the match started they came out with 11, no subs.
They appeared a touch disorganized and within a few minutes Bude were 1-0 up, by half time it was four, game over, usual Jackanory though, if chances had been taken it could have been seven.
Second half was a bit more pedestrian, but St Dennis seemed to tighten up and organize, still there were still a few issues. I know refs have been asked to sort out discipline, but seems to have come at a cost. One Bude player was sin-binned for arguing about an offside decision, which was so blatantly incorrect, a few minutes later an agricultural flying tackle that could have been a leg breaker which left one of Budes young players writhing on the ground was ignored when it was a red card offence! Swings and roundabouts of course over a season as was Budes ‘5th’ which was at least two feet over the line…VAR for everyone I say, still 3 points and and a 4-0 win…
The ground is so near I was able to stroll back home and watch England stroll to another 4-0 win… no VAR of course at Wembley either….
Sunday I went out for a stroll and caught some of Bude VETS match… great to see guys still giving it their all at any age. When I watched a bit of the first half before a stroll to the beach Bude were 1-0 down, got back for the last 15 minutes and saw them hit three goals, including a last minute penalty and understand that was the equalizer in a 3-3 draw! Chairman came over to have a Chat to me, been off watching one of his kids in Bude juniors… great one team ethos down here…
Anyway next week is cup time, Bude playing Carharrack in the Cornwall Senior Cup… I have put most of the programme together and updated the website.
During the week I hope to go groundspotting and tick off another ground to visit…..
Keep smiling Greenford, understand the traffic is a nightmare, this will improve, as will the results… there is a long way to go…..

U bluessssssssssss
