Hello readers, last week I left you with one of those Eastender Cliff Hangers as I asked the question… will it be reserves or will it be first team… well the weather got the better of the reserves so it was first team action down at Bude. Therefore unable to tick off Week St Marys ground… they do play the third team in a few weeks so could be another potential visit on the cards.
So first team it was. Around the area there were a lot of postponements which worked in Budes favour. Fortunately we were able to play a few dual contract players.
Bude were playing Polperro, second in the league and we very quickly went into a 1-0 lead. Polperro missed a penalty, but still pulled managed to overturn our lead and go 2-1 up, Bude pulled one back, but on the stroke of half time went 3-2 down.
The second half was a different affair and the half time pep talk stirred Bude, who equalized and scored two more goals to win 5-3. Great win and well deserved. Pete was happy…
For next weekend I have been putting together a double header programme for two days of cup action!
On Saturday the first team are at home to St Day in the Kernow Stone League Cup. St Day play in the West half of the St Piran league, so a chance to play different opposition.
On Sunday, the reserves are at home to Bridgerule in the Launceston (pronounced Lansen) cup. Bridgerule are a local side whose ground is on the other side of the Tamar so play in the North Devon League! They are also holders of this prestigious local tournament which has been held since 1907.
Unfortunately I will not be available for the match as I am in that London… may catch a few people!
