Yellows do the double over the South Bucks Blues

BGB Divison One S&W - North Leigh 3-0 Burnham

Two late goals from Chris Weedon and Jordan Parker secured a 3-0 North Leigh victory and a league-double over plucky ten-man opponents Burnham in an incident packed game at Eynsham Park on Tuesday evening.

An action packed start saw Leigh take a fourth minute lead as a deft one-two between Ben Reardon and Liam Hope sent Reardon to the bye-line and his pinpoint cross left Andy McCabe with a simple tap-in at the far post. Three minutes later the visitors were reduced to ten men when Adam Theo saw red for an elbow in the face of McCabe.

Despite dominating possession for the rest of the half, the Yellows were unable to add to their lead.

Half Time North Leigh 1 Burnham 0

Substitute Dan Sadler had an early second half effort charged down and Simon Futcher skimmed the post with his follow-up, but the ten-men of Burnham began to gain a foothold in the game and squandered two gilt-edged chances to level the score.

A Burham corner saw Leon Yarnie's close range header scrambled off the Leigh goal-line, and then an unmarked Jordan Dowdican had time and space to drill low past Farrow but his shot went just wide of the far post.

The valiant visitors were finally overcome with five minutes remaining when a surging Reardon run and pinpoint low cross found Chris Weedon who drilled a rising first time shot past Rob Paris in the Burnham goal. A minute later it was all over as Jordan Parker's low strike from the edge of the area skimmed through a sea of legs and under the unsighted Paris.

This third win in five games has lifted Leigh back into mid-table and with the return of Ben Reardon to compensate for the injured Chris Allen, Mark Gee's side will go into Saturday's home clash with bottom of the table Winchester City full of confidence as they look to continue a morale-boosting run of form.

North Leigh : Farrow, Weedon, Futcher (Collins 86), Hole, Huxley, Parker, Burnell (Helby 72), Jackson, Hope, McCabe (Sadler 40), Reardon. Unused sub - Merriman.
