North London Cricket Club’s Under-15 Girls delivered a polished performance on Tuesday evening under overcast conditions at the Cot, chasing down 97 with five wickets in hand and nearly ten overs to spare against a spirited Primrose Hill B side. Asked to field first after losing the toss, NLCC’s bowlers and fielders combined to restrict the hosts to 96 for 8, before Isabel Grady and Jasmin Naylor guided their side home with composure and confidence.
Primrose Hill’s innings started steadily but never quite broke loose and it was in the field where NLCC truly stamped their authority early. It was an attack with moments - a brilliant run out from M Bhullar, who produced a direct-hit run-out from deep square leg to remove the dangerous Doherty. Then there was Eva Crowe, with a thrilling double strike — two wickets in two balls — removing the dangerous Curtis and then immediately following up with another to trigger a collapse.
The standout bowling performance of the innings came from Yashvi Sreeram, whose spell of 4-1-14-2 offered pace, aggression, and relentless accuracy including the wicket of Curtis, looking set on 23, with a ball that nipped off the seam, took the edge, and was cleanly taken behind the stumps by Beale. In a match defined by short bursts of momentum, hers was a sustained display of control. Overall it was a fielding performance full of energy and awareness.
Chasing 97, North London suffered early setbacks — losing Bhullar, Townend and Crowe with the score still in the twenties. But Isabel Grady steadied the innings with a calm, unbeaten 32, showing maturity and poise under pressure.
At the other end, Jasmin Naylor changed the tone of the game. With effortless timing and assertive stroke play, she took on the bowlers — especially anything straying onto her pads. It was as if she was sending a message: “Bowl it on the leg side, and I’m hitting it for four.” And that’s precisely what happened. Her 29 off just 16 balls, featuring six crisply struck boundaries, shifted the game decisively in NLCC’s favour.
Together, Grady and Naylor's partnership extinguished any hope of a Primrose Hill comeback, wrapping up the chase in just 10.2 overs.
Though the scorecard will show a comfortable win, NLCC were tested — but in the end, it was the blend of tight bowline, sharp fielding, composed batting, and Naylor’s on-side dominance that sealed another impressive win for North London’s rising stars.
