Vale are now 2 weeks in to pre-season and things are starting to come together. As with every season there are changes in personnel and this season saw some big changes.

Leigh Newby and captain Jamie Knox have both decided to hang up the boots after being great sevants to the club over the last 3 or 4 seasons both having played more games for the club than any one else. The pair were also the first inductees to the North Merchiston Vale Hall of Fame at the end of season awards. Other players leaving the club are Mikey Duffy, Chris Johnson, Chris Adams, Scott Mitchell and Martin Duffy. North Merchiston Vale would like to wish all departing players all the very best for the future.

There are also a few older faces returning to the squad for preseason, welcoming back former Vale players Stuart Gibbons and Neil Rankin. They have been joined by a few trialists and the the gaffer is still in the process finalising the squad before the season begins.

Vale begun their preseason fixtures on 13th July with a 1-0 win over Premier 1 side Spartans. It was a good performance all round and great shift to get the fitness levels up. In the coming weeks Vale will take on LBG Strollers, Tollcross Th, Leith Ath U21 & Barca Milton before the season begins on the 10th August.
