Vale lose out in close fought first preseason encounter.

Vale were beaten by 4 goals in the end of a hard fought first preseason match. The Sunday Merchie team are well in to their preseason and it was noticable as they started the game on top. Early pressure was rewarded when they took the lead after about 10 minutes, the central midfielder drove forward unapposed and hit a great shot in to the top corner from 25 yards.

Vale came back in to the game and things were starting to click in the middle of the park featuring debutants Luke Leiper and Alan Bannon, some good work down the left found Seywright making a run from midfield and took one touch from the cross before unleashing a great shot past the keeper.

The visitors were back in front on the stroke of HT, the right winger was allowed too much time to cross and picked out the centre mid who had lost his man and scored with another great effort giving Leslie in the Vale goal no chance.

Many substitutions in the second half disrupted the play and Vale conceded 2 more sloppy goals in the last 20 minutes to make the scoreline worse than it deserved to be taking nothing away from North Merchie who deserved their win and will no doubt have a big impact on their league this season.

Team: C. Leslie; Svavarsson, Notman, Gordon, Brown; Leiper, Bannon, Seywright (c); S. Leslie, Rankin, Ritchie.

Subs: Uysal, Byrne, Gibbons, McDougal, Fraser

NMV Goal: Fraser Seywright (35 mins)
