Match Report Round 3

North Midd 5th XI vs Wembley (Home)
Wembley 74 from 20 overs
North Midd 75/2 from 11 overs
North Midd won by 8 wickets

Light drizzle at noon could not deter another fabulous performance from the Fantastics as they continue their march towards a potentially awesome season! Not even the thought of crusty sandwiches and 463 packets of Golden Wonder crisps could put off the 5's as they headed off in the pursuit of some jam tarts and another 10 points!
Skipper Richey was on top form and rather stumped when he arrived at Peter May in the family runaround to hunt down some rather elaborate blue based stumps which would not look out of place in the nearby Toys R Us!
The fantastics were blessed with talent on this super Saturday as availability was strong and this included super stars such as Percy "Lightening Thief", Nicky "Yours-and-mine", Alex "Come on Harris were going down the pub" and the return of the Blazing Ton Machine.

Fielding one of the strongest 5s teams ever, the Midd elected to bowl in drizzly conditions. Superb opening spells from Ussie (5 for 18) and Percy (2 for 18) demolished Wembley's fragile batting. Alex (1 for 19), Laurie HGV (1 for 14) and Nicky (1 for 1) finished the job. Wembley were all out for a vulnerable 74 in 21.4 overs. The Fantastics ensured that they played to their maximum with the aid of boiled sweet treatment which is part of the fitness regime for any 5th XI at this level!
Belligerent batting from Nick and "Father Time" Allen saw the Midd on 39 for none after just 3 overs. In spite of losing Tim and Tom 'Wheelie-Good" Barrow, we passed the target in the 11th over just 2 down with Nick still launching bombs on 41 not out.

Big match next week for the Fantastics as they take on top of the table Old Actonians in a match that could be an early indication of who is going to take control of this division of the 1987 league.
