Saturday saw the season draw to a close with a busy day at North Shields RFC. The morning saw the annual general meeting before the minis and juniors end of season presentations. The annual Chesties Challenge match between the under 30s and over 30s was contested with the vets winning for the second year in a row running out 26-12 winners.

The evening saw the club awards handed out. Flanker Tom Nesfield won both the first team player of the season and players player of the season. The men’s young season was awarded to winger Elliot Taylor while prop Jay Moore won the most improved player.

At the end of their first season the Blue Roses women’s team awards were also presented. Back rower Ella Wile was crowed both the player of the season and the young player of the season. Captain Caitlin Hills was voted players player of the season and vice-captain Ellie Dugdale was awarded the most improved players.

The Sniffer Award for commitment and dedication to rugby went to the club’s stalwart prop and tour organiser Chris Spedding. Adrian Petrie was awarded the Sid Wiseman award for long term club service. The final award the Club Person of the night was presented to the Blue Roses team manager and chair of minis and juniors Joanne Clarke.
