Last December when Northwich visited Douglas director of rugby Postie confessed he can still be surprised saying “They spent most of the second half in our 22, a large chunk spent on our 5m line. There wasn’t a lot of hope inside me, but I can tell you, I’ve rarely seen a side of mine hold out like that under relentless pressure. Our shoulders were broad but our hearts were bigger”. Northwich completed an impressive double over the Manxmen last weekend, with the pressure for promotion removed both teams produced another thriller the result not settled until the final minutes. This has been a defining factor of Posties tenureship his teams simply never give up.

Did you know? 6th April 1974 The joys of amateurism were highlighted when JJ Williams was given leave of absence by Maesteg Comprehensive School - where he was a PE teacher - to tour South Africa with the British Lions, but it was leave without pay, he said, "but I would regret it for the rest of my life if I didn't go."

Northwich make their final road trip of the league season travelling to Broughton Park RUFC Houghend Crescent M21 7TL. BP currently sit in 6th position but after suffering a loss to Warrington, BP are now only 5 points above the relegation zone with 2 games to play. Each round of the final fixtures could see the bottom half of the league drastically change. Any one of 7 teams could join DLS & Anselmians in relegation. BP were feeling secure following a 93-0 thrashing of Anselmians two weeks ago before coming back to earth last weekend losing 28-10 at Walton Lea road. An in-form Warrington enjoyed sweet revenge for an away loss earlier in the season by completely outplaying Broughton Park and gained a bonus point/
Northwich were delighted to welcome Broughton Park back to Moss Farm 8th December, having been missing from our fixture list for some time. With BP stringing a win streak together the blacks knew they were in for a difficult afternoon. But three tries in less than 20 minutes Northwich looked like they would overwhelm the visitors. At this point BP stepped up a gear and started to take the match to the hosts. The remaining minutes were nerve wracking for everyone except the players who carried on battling for the points. Deep in stoppage time the blacks stole the final try & conversion and the match was won with a bonus point 26-17.

Northwich 2 welcome Whitchurch 2 to Moss Farm 3pm kick-off. Northwich moved up to 7th following the 21-38 victory over Toc H.

For those of you following last weeks reported Chester saga. Chester 2nds & 3rds League Exclusion. The appeal hearing was held on Tuesday evening. The League Committee concluded there had indeed been a breach of regulations and therefore upheld the sanction regarding the exclusion of the 2nds and 3rds for the remainder of this season.
However, they did accept there were a number of mitigating circumstances, and as a result the Committee have waived the exclusion for next season.
Whilst Chester admits this is a considerable concession, they feel the overall decision remains not only unjust and disproportionate, but is also contrary to the League's own regulations.
As a result they have lodged a further appeal direct to the RFU.
