Firstly, I am extremely honoured to have been offered the chance to undertake the Director of Rugby role at the Club, the club that introduced me to our brilliant sport as a young boy. Northwich RUFC has given me some fantastic memories which has led to me meeting many great people and making life long friends. This role gives me the opportunity to give back and hopefully contribute to the future success of the club. For the members, supporters and partners of the club I will do my best to create something special for us all to be a part of and enjoy!
I'm excited for what this season will bring, there has been lots of positives during the off and preseason. For the Senior Section we are in a good place, and will be back to having 3 men's teams playing regularly this season. This is due to the commitment and buy in from the players and coaches. The positive environment has led to a number of new and returning players wanting to enjoy their rugby with us. We have strengthened the coaching team and support staff for this season. Rob Garner and Huw Williams have been great additions to the team and bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the group. Senior rugby wise, we still have work to do to reignite women's rugby at the club, but in time I'm sure we will get there! Walking rugby has had a recent resurgence and numbers are beginning to grow again on a Monday evening.
The Junior section is flying in every age group we have! This is due to the dedication of the Junior Committee and every junior coach and helper who makes it possible for so many children to play rugby with us on a Sunday morning. Thank you, without you none of this is possible, please keep up the good work. The gap between the Juniors and Seniors is closing each year, and we look forward to in time, our junior players progressing in to the senior section.
The aims for this year are simple, we will try to be better in every area and everything we do, not better than other clubs or other people, but better than we were. This continuous improvement mindset will help us improve week on week, year on year and lead to us achieving some great things. I believe in a one club ethos, we will look to integrate our Junior's and Seniors and support each other more than we have done previously.
It would be great to see as many of you as possible down at the club on a Saturday making new friends, reconnecting with old friends and supporting each other as we continue to build towards the new season.
See you soon!
