Ex-Teammates remember "Charlie"

john blower15 Jun 2016 - 16:47

They are climbing up Ben Nevis on Saturday as it’s the 10th anniversary of Charlies Death.

Ex-teammates BJ, Gaz Evans, Peter Scott, Mark Preece, Owen Oaks, John Millington, Stuart Hough, Luke Hewson, Dave Chaplain & Chris Chaplain are all doing the climb.

THE FORMER Northwich Rugby Club captain died after collapsing on Ben Nevis.

Dad-of-two Peter "Charlie" Charlton, 37, from Cuddington, was club captain in 1996. Charlie had been taking part in the Three Peaks Challenge with Dave Chaplin and John Millington also from Northwich Rugby Club.

Peter was an excellent player on the pitch, very tenacious with good leadership.
Off the pitch he was a lovely gentleman who would always find the time for a chat.

The Three Peaks Challenge is to climb the highest peaks in England (Scafell - 978m), Scotland (Ben Nevis - 1,344m) and Wales (Snowdon - 1,085m) in 24 hours.
