Chairman’s Update – Main Pitch

I am delighted to advise all members of the club that, after months of sometimes protracted discussions with CWAC and Sport England, it is anticipated that much needed drainage work on the main playing pitch will commence on 28th June (date provisionally agreed with but to be confirmed by the contractor).

The work will be extensive, involving primary pipe laying and secondary sand slitting, and it should result in the pitch remaining playable throughout heavy periods of rainfall, unless they are extreme. I am advised that the work will take five/six days to complete, then the pitch will need a minimum of four/five weeks to recover, during which time it will undergo weeding, feeding and thorough reseeding.

Recovery of the pitch is very much dependent on the weather, but I hope that it will be available for use again in mid to late August, certainly in time for the new season in September. Please can you all ensure that you stay off the pitch during the installation and recovery periods, whilst also stopping (if you can) any members of the public you see using or intending to use the pitch. I will try to organize some signage to help keep people away.

I would like to thank
CJ (the grant wizard) and Ash from the club, Paul Hickson and Denise Snelson from CWAC, Alan Dovaston from Sport England and Elly McFahn from Brio for their help and support getting this project over the line.

More news is promised shortly in respect of the Moss Farm site, and I will share as soon as I am in a position to do so.
