School children from Winnington Park Primary School have been learning more about rugby thanks to a visit from Northwich Rugby Club.
The club’s appointed Schools Community Officer Aaron Collins was on hand to teach the youngsters more about the sport and said it is great to be out and about visiting local schools.
Aaron explained “Northwich have supported Winnington Park Primary School for a number of years and last week were invited along with other sports clubs to provide engaging sessions in support of the schools writing week”.
Pupils were encouraged to try new sporting activities prior to writing about their experiences throughout the week.
“The children and I thoroughly enjoyed the sessions as they continue to learn and developed new skills”.
"As a club, we are delighted to be in a position where we can offer these free coaching sessions as part of our Schools programme, said Aaron.
The club schools programme is supported by the wider sponsorship of Northwich Rugby Club, partnerships which demonstrates a commitment to supporting local communities.
Northwich RUFC are committed to the development and playing of rugby union within the local schools and maximising participation in extra-curricular rugby for pupils of all abilities. The benefits to the School are considerable enabling development of school’s teams, access to top quality coaching and support of the school’s academic programme which in turn supports the club’s own development programme.
Having the support of sponsors is vital in enabling us to deliver our schools sessions throughout the wider community of Northwich and our surrounding area. In 2017 we were supporting 5 local schools this year we have regularly visited 13. We hope that our partnerships continue for a long time as we know the wider community will benefit greatly.
Club Chairman Andy Naylor said the sponsor partnerships with Northwich Rugby Club is an important way to work with the local community both on the pitch and as part of our schools programme.
“NRUFC have an ambition to create good people with good values who contribute positively to their communities. The club has a great commitment to supporting players of all ages and we’re pleased to be part of that journey and seeing how it encourages youngsters to get more involved in the sport,” said Andy.
The schoolchildren had a great time learning from Aaron and we look forward to supporting more school visits in the future.
“It has been a wonderful opportunity for pupils to combine their academic and physical fitness, Northwich wish to thank the School and everyone who had made this visit possible”, concluded Aaron
