A week in sport can sometimes see many changes within any team’s fortunes. Three weeks at Northwich rugby club has been impressive, another success in their final game of February this coming Saturday may well see Martin Poste awarded the manager of the month.

Off the back of three defeats in four games Northwich prepared to welcome Stockport who at that time was just above the Blacks. Northwich winning a bruising encounter with late tries from Du Randt and James.

A Cheshire Vase clash with Sandbach who play one league higher followed, when Sandbach took the lead they maybe thought the resistance of their lower league opponents broken, but Northwich resilience and dedication to the cause saw James once again push over on the hour. Northwich victorious, and now in another Vase final to be played Easter weekend. Northwich having won the Cheshire RFU Vase more often than any rival since the competition started.

A drive up the M6 to North One West leaders and title favourites Carlisle followed. Carlisle must now be sick of the sight of Northwich who have now completed a season’s double and are the only visiting team to win at Warwick Road this term. (Match report to follow).

Along the way Northwich have suffered both niggling and serious injuries which have caused concern but has also allowed Postie to introduce a number of alternative faces to 1st team action. Postie acted quickly to recruit as Scott Davidson completed a transfer from North One West rivals Firwood Waterloo and made his debut for Blacks at Carlisle.

Postie and his Northwich teams do not give up the challenge easily has his winning mentality and the teams results have shown over his four year tenure, the season for Northwich continues and you can follow the journey with the Team of the Town.
