The rule of six

Well, this is now our new mantra!

With that in mind, I wondered how it might be applied to rugby.

As it turns out, it is in fact quite difficult!

Firstly, we're relieved the Government's announcement this week on how it plans to tackle the spread of coronavirus has not affected organised sport.

Rugby is considered a Covid-19 secure activity, and of course it's up to all of us to take seriously our responsibilities to avoid that changing.

It could be argued that the RFU Code of Conduct now has 6 points; in addition to Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline, and Sportsmanship, we now have Hygiene.

Meanwhile, in 2006-07, Northwich were crowned champions of Euromanx South Lancs/Cheshire One without losing a single fixture; winning 20, and drawing another.

Playing numbers continue to increase for our 6-11 year old SuperStars every Sunday at Moss Farm.

Will McDonald, from the older age group, arrived early last week and got stuck in.

He lent a hand with the under 6s, and it was much appreciated.

"All the kids loved having one of the older group showing what to do," said coach Andy Chubb.

This age group is full of enthusiasm, so if you, or anyone you know, would like to get involved, head down to Moss Farm from 9.30am.

The senior section's new fitness coach, Aaron Collins, prepared a 6 week pre-season workout.

We have reached the halfway point: how many of our players have stuck with it?

And what of the 6 Nations?

What could delight us more than the resolution of this year’s competition?

October 24: Ireland v Italy

October 31: Wales v Scotland; Italy v England.

The 2021 Six Nations starts when England host the Calcutta Cup at Twickenham on - yes, you've guessed it - February 6 .

And finally, if you multiply 6 by 2.5 you get 15, which is the magic number for a rugby union side.

A great team sport open to all shapes, sizes, skills and aptitudes.

I love this game, and I’m just a spectator!

I can’t imagine how frustrating it is for players who are desperate to play the full game.
