North Ribblesdale - Moss Farm 2.15pm

This Saturday’s clash between Northwich and North Ribblesdale is shaping up as a critical fixture in the 2025–26 season — and both clubs know it. The Blacks return to action hungry to build momentum, while Ribbs will be keen to use it and retain their push at the top of the table.

For the Blacks, playing at home offers a solid platform to bounce back. After the recent setback, the squad will be looking to re-establish forward momentum, literally and figuratively. Key will be composure under pressure, discipline in defence, and seizing scoring opportunities when they come.

North Ribblesdale, travelling to Northwich Rugby Union Football Club are expecting a tough away fixture — and with them currently sitting at the top of the league table, they’ll be fighting hard to retain their spot and bring home another crucial result. Ribbs are on a good run of form defeating Burnage last week and have not lost since their last visit to Northwich on the 8th November over the fence at Winny Park.

Last week Northwich were looking to reverse the disappointment of losing their previous two matches and arrived at Heath Road Widnes with a near full squad at their disposal, suggesting this was going to be a really intense and physical contest. Northwich must have thought they had done enough to win the game after recovering from a 20pts – 7 deficit to take the lead with precious few minutes left. However, when they conceded a late penalty, up stepped McGovern to calmly step up and strike the ball home from distance to earn his side an exciting and important victory. It was a thrilling end to what had been a tremendous game of rugby.

With Northwich’s league position tight and form variable, this match carries real significance for both sides. A win could provide the necessary lift to push on, while defeat could serve as a wake-up call in this December’s tough block of fixtures. Supporters should expect effort, urgency and a fierce contest and the Blackss faithful are encouraged to turn out and create a strong home atmosphere to help fuel that response.

Kick-off is ay 2:15pm on Saturday afternoon at Moss Farm.
Let’s hope we see a performance that reflects the importance of the fixture
