Northwich's Domo explained that involving women and girls, men and boys, more equally in rugby is central to the strategic goals of Northwich Walking Rugby (NWR). Through such events as the NWR, presents an ideal opportunity to support women and girls in rugby, and to encourage their communities to also get involved.
Monday evening fun again at Moss Farm - Home of Northwich RUFC where 23 Walking Rugby enthusiasts took to the field for a 4 team round robin work-out.
….And the 9 ladies showed the men the fine art of passing, catching, and side stepping with the oval ball.
These sessions are all about having a good time in a friendly, non contact environment where both ladies and gents, boys and girls of all abilities can enjoy this slow-downed version of the game.
Star of the show last night was nearly 12 year old newcomer William - scorer of 2 tries and provider of 2 more…. A great first time performance - Well done Will
It was also pleasing to see the return of Dan the man (Son of Gerald Tobin), who’s not lost any of his skills - despite the passage of time, And our lady from Moore Rugby Club - Jo Leah.
And finally, after 2 years, Seb has now stopped running, and walks like the rest of us (Following the threat of being sanctioned and having his boot laces tied together!).
Special thanks once again to Neil Saunders for the team photo, and to Danny Townsend for “Walking” the bar. And of course to each and everyone of you for turning up and making our Monday evenings special.
Next session - Monday 6.30pm we will be welcoming the return of Steven Taylor - Back from Honeymoon.
