The sixteen players representing the Northwich U10s were greeted with beautiful autumnal sunshine for their home fixture against Crewe & Nantwich RUFC. With both sides fielding two teams each, the players and on looking spectators were looking forward to an action packed morning of rugby and fun.
No one was left disappointed with the spectacle that unfolded throughout the morning. The physically large Crewe & Nantwich players scored many tries with their straight, direct running that often left the home team wanting. However the home team quickly responded by playing a quick, flowing and at times dynamic style of play that was rewarded with a number of tries. The score tally being high from both teams, a premium was placed on effective tackling and stopping the opposition physically moving forwards.
Both teams thoroughly enjoyed the morning with all teams leaving with a big smiles across their faces after the customary hot dogs in the clubhouse. Crewe & Nantwich played with great spirit and it was a pleasure to watch such good natured players not only enjoy the game of rugby, but make new friendships.
Special mention must be made of Zak for scoring his first try ever in his first ever competitive game of rugby. We are sure we will see many more as the season progresses. The ferocious tackling from Billy also deserves a special mention
