Fourteen players representing the Northwich U10s travelled to Ellesmere Port RUFC on a bright and sunny morning for the return fixture previously held at Moss Farm before Christmas. When the two teams had previously met both got on exceptionally well with all players, supporters and coaches following the same ethos that above all rugby should be all about fun and making new friends.
Following a joint warm up between the two teams focusing on tackling technique, retaining the defensive line and running straight they settled down to business. Ellesmere Port opened the score line by effective use of their physically large players. However the visitors battled back with excellent tackling technique. Coupled with sending the ball out wide to wings, the Northwich players quickly realised it was far easier running around the opposition rather than through them. Superior passing ability with few errors saw the visitors securing a narrow victory against two very evenly matched sides.
Many thanks were given to Ellesmere Port for hosting the game with excellent spirit and sportsmanship being displayed by not only the players , but coaches, parents and supporters.
