Union make it eight from eight

Norwich Union continue their unbeaten run in Eastern Counties 1 North, with a bonus point win at home against Watton.

Union scored five tries in total, five in the first half, with Neil Dunleavey, Simon Pitcher, Ben Bond-Webster all scoring tries, with Tom Easton picking up a brace, Easton’s second being the pick of the tries with the move starting from Union’s half, with number eight Jon Spicker picking up and making a break before popping the ball to centre Dunleavey who made further progress before returning the ball to Spicker, who then shipped the ball to scrum half Davis, who drew the last man before popping the ball to Easton who had a simple run in from close range, Watton were only able to add two penalties to take the half time score to 33-6.

Union’s only score of the second half came from a penalty try as Watton’s fullback was judged to have taken Union’s fly half Ali Mckee high as McKees was in the act of scoring, the Watton player picking up a yellow card in the process.
Watton had a late resurgence, with several forays deep into the Union territory, as Union lost both props to the sin bin, Watton’s efforts were rewarded with a late converted try to take the final score to 40-13.

Union travel to North Walsham 2s who are only two points behind them in the next weekend, in what proves to be an almighty clash with North Walsham wanting to reverse the narrow 45-40 win Union had at home in October.
