Player Player and Supporter Player of the season announced

Norwich United Football Club are delighted to confirm the winners of our End of Season awards for the curtailed 2019/2020 season.

The Players Player of the season has been won by Finlay Barnes with Liam Jackson as the Runner Up in 2nd place.

With the season being stopped in March and since confirmed it will not restart due to the on-going pandemic we had to think differently for the Supporters Player of the Season this time around, ordinarily our approach to this award would be to hand out voting forms in the turnstile across our final two or three home games of the season. For obvious reasons this time around that was not possible.

We still felt this award was deserving of happening this season after the wonderful season and entertainment the boys produced for the Plantation Park faithful. Myself together with input from Andy Eastaugh and Norman Bygrave drew up a list of 8 contenders which were Finlay Barnes, Ben Fowkes, Liam Jackson, Andy Eastaugh, Sam Applegate, Sam Watts, Dillon Alexander and Harry Barker.

We did a Twitter vote on our official page which ran between Tuesday 19th-Tuesday 26th May for supporters to cast their vote.

We were honoured to receive an incredible 740 votes for this award and are pleased to confirm the winner of Supporters Player of the Year for 2019/2020 is Ben Fowkes with Finlay Barnes in second place and Liam Jackson in Third. In a curtailed season these 3 lads still managed a staggeringly brilliantly 75 goals between them!

Club Captain Andy Eastaugh provided his reaction to the recent awards: "Finlay, Liam and Ben have all had really good seasons, and at times it’s been a pleasure to play in a side which such quality clinical forwards. We must also recognise the hard work and consistency of the rest of squad that give these lads the base to go and express themselves. As a team we felt we were in really good form and disappointed the season had to end before we could achieve our goals, but nevertheless a reasonable season was had by all. "

Everybody at Plantation Park was gutted Cedric, Tom and the lads did not have the opportunity to finish the 2019/2020 season in the manner in which we would have liked but we hope all our Plantation Park family are keeping safe and well during these challenging times for the country.

We look forward to the day we can welcome you all back to Plantation Park again as soon as it is safe to so.

Take care and stay safe,

UTP!
