The game began at a lively pace with the Planters increasingly looking threatening, throughout the first half. The Lynn XI looked dangerous from balls over the top, with quick forward players looking to use their pace to get in behind the Planters’ back-line. Norwich United’s defence held firm however with Andy Eastaugh showing his strength and positioning skills on numerous occasions to thwart Lynn’s efforts. Natty Stewart started the scoring for United with an exquisite lob, having jinked through the visitors’ defence and the Planters added a second soon after.
During the second half both sides made changes but for the majority of the game Planters played with the same eleven and looked increasingly cohesive. Lynn's best chance came when they were awarded a penalty in the second half which forced a superb save from United keeper Ryan Dickerson who dived confidently to his left to deny Lynn a way back into the match. Throughout the second half the Planters kept the pressure on the Kings Lynn Town XI defence and took complete control of the game as they emphatically added a further four goals to their tally. Captain Sam Watts and newly signed striker Jack Hurrell were both able to convert well timed close range finishes, while Haydn Davis smashed in a superb long range effort and Natty Stewart added his second with another fine strike from around the edge of the box.
