Welfare were pegged back by a controversial late penalty as they pushed Premier Division high fliers Farsley FC all the way.
Runaway leaders Farsley were looking to extend their impressive recent run of form but it was Nostell who created the early chances only for Mark Thompson and Ernest Boafo to be denied by the Farsley keeper Tom Morgan.
However it wasn’t long before the break though came and on the 19th minute Jimmy Eyles pounced on a long ball to chip the goal keeper and give Welfare the lead. The visitors continued to pose a threat but Farsley improved markedly after the interval. Nostell were more than a match for their opponents however and were looking comfortable when Farsley were awarded a debatable spot kick with 77 minutes gone. Simon Bambrook’s first attempt was well saved by goal keeper Gavin Ansley but the referee awarded a retake which Bambrook converted. Buoyed by the goal Farsley pushed forward in the dying minutes but Nostell held on to earn a well deserved point.
