Do not let the final score deflect from what was a very good display from Nostell. It was only during the later stages of the game, as players drafted in at short notice for Nostell became weary, that Tadcaster finally took charge.
An even first half saw both sides having good periods of football. With Lee McGrath in Nostell’s goal producing a fine performance, it was only a sublime dink of a pass from Tadcaster’s Ben Lock that found Ben Turner in the box, who fired a left foot shot past McGrath, to put Tadcaster ahead.

The goal knocked Nostell for a while, with the team giving the ball away too easily.
Nostell settled and on 25 minutes, Mackenzie Northern put Ben Waterfield through on the left. Waterfield went for goal and it seemed a slight deflection helped the ball home. Nostell were back on even terms at 1:1.

Tadcaster produced a good response, putting pressure on the Nostell defensive line, but Nostell held firm, with a great break that saw Critchlow’s effort fly wide of the post.
Nostell’s Greenhough forced Tadcaster’s keeper Lawrie to help the ball over the bar, with a fine cross from the right.
The final fifteen minutes of the first half saw both teams playing well, with efforts coming at both ends.
Nostell’s Micky Brooks looked to be on his way, when Tadcaster’s Batley took him out. Referee, Mr Whatling immediately showed a yellow card.
Tadcaster started play for the second half and within four minutes, Terry Taylor got a fine shot off. McGrath needed two efforts to gather it in.

Nostell broke well, but Northern needed too many touches in the Tadcaster box and was closed down.
The game became very open. Tadcaster’s Dan Barrett found himself free in the Nostell box, but could not get the ball out from under his feet. A chance lost…
Tadcaster’s Barrett became frustrated and showed this by shoving Nostell’s 17 year old debutant right back, Jack Greenhough. However it did not deter Greenhough and he continued to play well.
On 63 minutes Tadcaster’s Rice received a good ball. He turned and picked his spot for a fine finish.

Barrett of Tadcaster had an altercation with Nostell’s Hope. The referee spoke to both players.
Nostell tried to force an equaliser, but Tadcaster’s defence stood firm.
On 69 minutes Tadcaster’s Will Pepper appeared in the Nostell box. For a strong player, he fell too easily under a challenge and Mr Whatling, quite rightly waved ‘play on’.

On 70 minutes, Nostell replaced Hope with Jack Rogers. Tadcaster took Batley off and Ashley Hope came on.
Tadcaster put pressure on the Nostell goal. Barrett’s shot deflected off Pepper, leaving McGrath diving one way and unable to adjust. 3:1 to Tadcaster.

Within a minute Nostell’s Callum Strodder was injured and substituted by Hayden Lobley.
On 85 minutes, a ball from the left found Tadcaster’s Turner in the box and he poked it home. 4:1 to Tadcaster.
Both sides threatened to the end. Nostell, with five first team players unavailable, deserved more from the game.
