For the very first time the Central, Northern England League will enter a team into the AFL Europe Champions League competition held in Amsterdam on Saturday 7th April.

The winning men’s and women’s club team from each league in Europe is invited to attend. As the very first CNE Women’s team formed in 2017 the Nottingham Scorpions have received a special invitation from AFL Europe to enter in 2018.

The one day format will appeal to the high fitness and physicality of the Scorpions women who are very excited to put Nottingham on the map and show just how hard the ladies have been working. The ladies won’t be alone as a number of the men’s team will be coming along to support and coach the team. There are still many spaces available for the tournament and beginners are absolutely recommended to come along and participate, the tournament is well known for its enjoyable after party as much as the tournament itself! AFL is one of the most sociable sports with both men’s and women’s team partying hard into the early hours.

With more female teams forming across the CNE in 2018 in Wolverhampton and Huddersfield next years entry to the tournament will be a much more competitive affair. We hope that both the Scorpion women and men’s team will be crowned champions of the CNE league and therefore be invited to attend the tournament in 2019.

You will be able to keep up to speed with the team’s progress in the tournament by following us on twitter, facebook and Instagram. If games are live streamed the link will be posted on our social media.
