A strong wind gave the Scorps a strong advantage in the first half which we used to good effect to put the game out of reach of the Rams.

Round 7 saw the Scorpions take on the Huddersfield in their first match of the League Lightning Round. Huddersfield were keen to make an impact coming off the back of two consequtive wins to climb the ladder and secure their spot in the top 4.

Nottingham won the toss and elected to start with the wind in our favour, which proved a crucial advantage early on. The ball rarely made it into our defensive line and good work in the back and midfield got the ball to the forward line to set up a number of scoring opportunities. Notting dominated the half scoring 9 unanswered goals to lead 9-6-60 to Huddersfield 0-2-2 at half time.

Knowing it was a 10 goal wind the Scorpions couldn't sit on their heels in the second half and determination in the backs was the difference. Huddersfield got a number of chances to score but could only convert one goal from 5 attempts after getting away from their defenders and into clear space. But with turn over ball the Scorpions worked the ball up the middle and out of danger. Only some great defense by Karl Haigh stopped the Scorpions from scoring more but the three goals secured the win of the quarter 3-4-22 to 1-4-10, and the game 12-10-82 to Huddersfield 1-6-12.

Special mentions go to Keith Farr, aka "The Determinator", for his solid defense and, well, determination to force turn overs on the ball when we're on the back foot. Andy Kraefft and Rich Lucas, interchanging in the ruck, moved the ball around the middle and Andy collected a few goals from great grabs fed by all the midfielders. But the best on ground, coming back after a two game absence and stepping into the breach was Ash Swift, doing a mountain of work around the middle with several assists and a couple of cheeky goals to boot, earning himself the nickname "The Silent Assassin" from those on the bench. Another solid win from the Scorps!
