We consider it a huge coup for Novos to recruit a high calbre coach with the experience and track record of success that Magnus has for next season. Magnus is a level 3 coach and has recently parted company with Gateshead RFC where he secured promotions from D&N Division 2 up to North East One and led them to successes in the county cup at all levels of the club. He has also tasted success with the Durham County side that lifted the County Plate and has been coaching the elite BUCS team at Team Northumbria.

Magnus joins novos to head up the coaching team, he will be assisted by Rob Jones, Chris Fife, Kevin Anderson, Peter Douthwaite and Dave Addison but will assume overall responsibility for coaching structure and coach and player development as well as the performance of the clubs senior rugby sides.

It was important to us that the appointment was made with the full backing of the existing coaching team and we are pleased that the young coaching team were kept on for next year in addition to Magnus joining us and hopefully developing the lads further after a season competing against coaches with a lot of experience.

This is a great appointment signalling novos ambition and one that will hopefully lead us to good things in the future!

'Novos are relegated this season and we cannot change that but we can look forward to a brighter season next year - our squad is young and very talented, with another year of experience of senior rugby under the belts they will develop into a very good side, we are hoping the link in with Team Northumbria will continue to bear fruit with new players coming in to Sutherland Park and with players like Will Trick, Pete Twentyman and James Parkinson committing to play next year already and seasoned campaigners such as Alex Littlefair and Gavin Evans likely to be returning to fitness so we should be in good shape and the new coach will be able to give us the organisation, direction and structure that has in fairness been lacking this year, Im over the moon and really excited about next season' Commented coach Dave Addison
