Novos 3/4's were victorious over Rockliff 3's to kick off Novos Beer Festival weekend by the score of 47-22

With twenty five lads selected to play Gosforth on Saturday the rest of the club was invited down to play Rockcliff 3's at Sutherland Park. A great way to kick off the BeerFest weekend as almost 35 lads came along to put on the Novos shirt.

Two squads were named so the lads could play 30 mins each before a final 20 mins for anyone who was left standing ! Rockcliff also had great numbers - a great sign for a club on the rise. Especially given their 1's and 2's were playing the next day.

First 30 mins - Novos 14, Rockcliff 10.
Second 30 mins - Novos 26, Rockcliff 7.
Final 20 mins - Novos 7, Rockcliff 10

Thank you to Steve Dickinson for controlling the game - let the match flow brilliantly and had a smile on his face whilst doing his job.

Cheers to the Rockcliff lads, a great effort with numbers. Something you will need as a club as your first team enters D and N 1 this season. The league is quite nutritional and we almost always use 50 players a season. It will be vital that these players push your first team and are in a position to step up and support the first team squad during the season.

Novos boys, great environment - awesome start to the season. Thank you to Stephen Wood for captaining the side. I enjoyed watching the game and learnt a lot about players that I don't get to see very often when on duty with the 1's. Will Evans grabbed a hat trick and Stephen Wood grabbed a double with there scores coming from Francis Eze and Stewart Wilson and a couple of others (torrential rain ruined my notes)

I was also very impressed with the work rate of Gareth Davies on debut, Neil Smith being a nuisance at the breakdown, strong carries from Lex Leonard (stonewall first teamer if he was available regularly) Stewart Wilson had a strong all round game and Dylan Murphy had a strong debut for the club.

Favourite moments would have to be Will Evans slow-mo tries - all three of them, Nick Walker (Neil to his mates) put in two fantastic kicks in general play and I thought David Marshall was a class act (another obvious first teamer unable to play due to work)

Next for this group is a joint training session against Northern on the 22nd August before they take on Blaydon on the 24th at 1400.

Up the Vos - Rugby for all, rugby for life.
