I hope you all had a great Christmas and this update finds you safe and well.
I thought I would take this opportunity to further introduce myself and wish you all a healthy and prosperous 2021.
I have been a fan of Nuneaton Borough since my grandad started taking me in the early 90's, and I have been hooked ever since.
Like you all I have seen a lot of ups and downs over the years and I can safely say there is never a dull moment at the Boro'!!
I got involved behind the scenes at the club in June 2019 when I spoke to Mark Grimes about coming on board with my sons football team and taking on the junior section chairman's role.
This section of the club has gone from strength to strength over the last 18 months and has really embedded itself into the fabric of what we are trying to achieve at the club as we strive to make the Boro' a real pillar of the community.
The junior section now boasts seventeen teams from the 4-6 year old Boro Ballers all the way up to the U18's as well as a brand new academy side in association with Etone College.
The ladies team came under the junior section umbrella this season and we will be looking to enhance this with a brand new girls section which is to be officially unveiled in the coming weeks.
I believe creating the junior section surrounded by a fantastic team of coaches, volunteers and staff played a huge part in getting me to where I am today.
Thank you to all involved with the juniors and I look forward to continuing the relationship along with building the foundations of the club over the next few years.
When I was approached about taking on the Chairman's role it came as a bit of a shock at first but once it had sunk in it was never an opportunity I was going to pass up.
I must say it is an absolute honour and a pleasure to be bestowed with the responsibility of leading the club in what are exciting times.
Since Jimmy came in two years ago, when the club was on the verge of going under, the place has come on in absolute leaps and bounds and we believe, as a committee, we are finally looking forward rather than over our shoulders and worrying about what is around the corner.
There has been a lot of blood, sweat and tears gone into the last two years and the list of people who have come forward to help the club in some capacity is too big to mention, but they know who they are and they can be immensely proud of where we are today.
Whilst there is still a long way to go in what we want to achieve, we are well on the way to stabilising the club on and off the field.
The next twelve months is going to prove an opportunity to grow and start to move the club forward.
We have some important meetings to be held in the early part of the new year and even with no football in the current climate there is still a lot of work going on behind the scenes to secure our future.
The latest government tier announcements placing us in Tier 4 will prove another frustration as adult football is not permitted.
We will await guidance from the FA and the Southern League and will of course keep you all updated as soon as we have any news.
The club is desperate to bring football back to the fans, but it is paramount that this must be in a safe and comfortable environment for all.
In the meantime, please stay safe, look after each other and I hope to see you all in 2021.
Yours in football, Jason.
