We’re delighted to announce that former Nuneaton Borough player Callum Chettle has re-signed for the club, 7 years since he left to join Peterborough United in the Football League.
After 22 appearances for the League One side, Chettle had spells with Alfreton, Fylde, Boston Utd, Matlock, Basford and Mickleover.
Chettle is the son of former Boro assistant manager and Nottingham Forest player Steve. He followed in his father’s footsteps by beginning his career as a youth team player at Nottingham Forest before making his Northern Premier League debut at the age of 15 for Ilkeston Town. After 3 years at the Derbyshire club, Chettle signed for the Boro in 2015-2016.
Manager Jimmy Ginnelly was thrilled to persuade Chettle to return to the Boro, saying:
“I’m over the moon to convince one of our ex-players to come and sign for us again at the First Class Safety Stadium. He’s a very good footballing midfielder, who loves to pass the ball about and link everything up with the forwards and the wide men. He’s very fit and combative and certainly has that sparkle in his eye when he gets in and around the penalty area. Callum has a great attitude towards football and he’s a great lad to work with. Welcome back to the Boro!”
When we spoke to Callum he said:
“I’m buzzing to be back. I have lots of memories from the first time here and I’m hoping this season is the same , trying to get us promoted back to where we belong.”
Welcome back to the Boro, Callum!
