Nuneaton Borough can now confirm that former assistant/player manager Kyle Storer has been appointed as first team manager, following the departure of Jimmy Ginnelly.
Similar to Jimmy, Nuneaton-born Kyle is Boro through and through and the ideal person to build on the legacy that his predecessor has left behind. When Stoz first rejoined the club a year ago, it was no secret that he was eager to hone his managerial skills alongside Jimmy with the possibility of one day becoming the Boro's manager. That day has arrived sooner than expected!
Ambitious Storer has a wealth of footballing experience to draw upon, that includes League 2 level with Cheltenham Town and Solihull Moors in the National League. During his two spells with the Boro (2008-2011 and 2023-2024) Stoz has made 147 appearances (6 as sub) and scoring 25 goals.
Grateful for the opportunity that Jimmy Ginnelly has given Kyle, he had this to say to the Boro supporters:
"Firstly, I would like say a big thank you to Jimmy Ginnelly, for bringing me back to my hometown club and being a part of the Boro again for the last 12 months. Also, a big thank you to Jimmy for letting me work closely with him. I’ve seen first-hand how hard the man worked, almost putting football second on his agenda to keep the club fighting financially with sponsors. So from me to him a big thanks gaffer and good luck in the future. you will be very much missed “
"Secondly, the plan was always to go into management and especially with the Boro. It was no secret that this was the plan from Jimmy and myself - maybe a lot sooner than imagined and not in the circumstances we currently find ourselves in. It’s exciting, nerve wracking and going to be very challenging, but you know me, never one to back out of a challenge!"
"Taking the reins as player-manager is almost an impossible job on your own. The managerial team will be vital in the success moving forward. Andy and 'Acco' will be massive and equals in the managerial team ."
"It will be an honour to represent this club as their player-manager, with support from the club and especially the fans. I know how good this club can be, and how big of an impact we can have, so let’s always stick together and get the club bouncing again.
"I’m looking forward to the rollercoaster journey!
Stoz
Stoz will take on full managerial responsibility for the team, supported by head coach Andy Danylyszyn and goalkeeping coach, Darren Acton. His first match in charge will be on Saturday 13th January away to St Ives.
