Tomlinson plays key role at Key’s Park.

Nuneaton looked to come out of the blocks early in the first half with skipper Scott McManus sending a cross into a dangerous area that was met by the head of a Hednesford defender. However, it wasn’t long before Hednesford showed they were up for a fight as Trialist 2 made a dangerous run down the right side for the hosts. His low cross went through a group of players before being collected by Connor Furlong. Connor Tomlinson’s first opportunity came as he looked to head home a Furlong cross but his effort was just wide of the post after ten minutes. Twenty minutes later, and it would be Tomlinson who broke the deadlock giving Boro the lead. Some fancy footwork was on display from the edge of the box before he curled an effort into the top right corner to open his Boro account. Borough then continued to push for more goals as Jaden Charles just miss timed his jump meaning he was unable to get on the end of a cross from Kane Richards at the back post.

Half-Time 0-1

Hednesford had a similar opening spell in the second half to that had by Boro in the first. Hednesford would grab their equaliser through Trialist 3 who received the ball from Mardenborough striking into an empty net after a defensive mix up allowed his team mate to win the ball. Boro looked to get back on the front foot with two good chances just five minutes apart. The first came to Tyrell Waite who’s effort from outside the box smashed against the cross bar. Minutes later and it was Cain Noble who shot from distance went just wide of the post. Borough made multiple changes towards the end of the first half as they looked for that winning goal however their attempts came to nothing
