Away days continue for Nuneaton on Saturday, with a trip to second place AFC Rushden & Diamonds.
Boro' fans witnessed an improvement from last weekend’s 3-0 home defeat to Kings Langley with a 1-1 draw at Banbury United. Luke Benbow’s first goal for the club looked to have secured Jimmy’s men their first win. However, a Ricky Johnson header in the closing ten minutes proved to be two points lost for Boro'.
Diamonds have begun their campaign with two wins. Goals from Liam Dolan and Jack Ashton gave Andy Peaks' side an excellent start to their season, before Leiston suffered a 5-1 defeat at Hayden Road, thanks to goals from Jacob Collard, Ben Acquaye, Nathan Hicks and a double from Tom Lorraine means Diamonds sit behind Royston on goal difference.
AFC Rushden & Diamonds last 5 games:
Diamonds 5-1 Leiston
Barwell 0-2 Diamonds
Daventry Town 1-2 Diamonds
Northampton Town XI 1-2 Diamonds
Histon FC 1-1 Diamonds
Diamonds came from a goal down to confidently beat Leiston on Tuesday evening to continue their perfect start. Matt Blake’s 22nd minute strike put the visitors ahead before Jacob Collard and Tom Lorraine turned the game around before half-time. Second-half goals by Lorraine, Ben Acquaye and Nathan Hicks lifted the hosts to second in the table.
