Nuneaton Borough strolled past a young Coventry City side at Liberty Way with a dominant 3-0 win in the Birmingham Senior Cup meaning a third round tie awaits.
Boro started brightly in the first half, after a fast start out of the blocks from the very off.
Just five minutes into proceedings at Liberty Way, former Coventry City midfielder, Devon Kelly-Evans opened the scoring after a corner was scrambled in the box. Despite the best efforts of Coventry to clear, Kelly-Evans found the back of the net from close range for his first of the season.
Boro continued to dominate the game after the opening goal, Callum Powell sparkled on the left hand side of Nuneaton's attack.
Five minutes after the opener, Powell played a dangerous ball across the box for Jamie Towers who was staring his first Boro goal in the face. On this occasion it wasn't to be as Coventry defender Morgan Williams put in an effective slide tackle to concede a corner.
The first half evened out as it proceeded, Boro goalkeeper, and current internet sensation, Tony Breeden continued to show his terrific ability to play out from the back with some magnificent passes being the key to many Nuneaton attacks.
As the half hour mark approached, Ginnelly's boys were on top again. Powell used his trademark move after cutting in from the left hand side on to his favoured right foot but this time the top corner wasn't found and the winger had to settle for a corner.
Half time approached and Coventry were relieved. After numerous Boro attacks, the away side had some time to reflect and galvanise after a lacklustre first half which saw the League One side 1-0 down.
Boro once again flew out of the blocks in the second half, a switch at the interval saw youngster Owen Wassall introduced.
Six minutes into the second half, Wassall opened his Nuneaton Borough account. A superb first time effort from the edge of the box meant a Coventry mistake was punished.
The hour mark approached and Nuneaton continued to shine under the lights at Liberty Way.
A wonderful volley from the right foot of Ryan Edmunds was inches away from making it three as a superb save from the Coventry City keeper meant Boro had to settle for a corner.
Coventry forward David Bremang went close to halving the deficit, a one on one was won by Nuneaton keeper, Tony Breeden, who read the intent of an attempted lob.
With the last quarter of a hour remaining Boro’s Joel Kettle wrapped up the win for his side. A curling Callum Powell corner was met by the centre-half who thundered home a header.
With the victory secured in style, Nuneaton Borough now go into the third round of the Birmingham Senior Cup.
