It turned out to be a commanding performance for Boro away at Racing Club Warwick in the Birmingham Senior Cup 1st Round.
Goals from McDonald, McManus and debutant Shanks saw Boro ease into the next round.
Warwick netted a late consolation but the Boro were good value for the win.
Boro got right down to business and were on the front foot from the start.
Several early chances were squandered as Boro stamped their authority on proceedings, although Breeden still had to make a sharp stop in the 7th minute.
With only 18 minutes gone new loan signing Connor Shanks broke from the left but was brought down in the box and the referee pointed straight to the spot.
Messiah McDonald stepped up and converted the penalty placing his shot in the bottom right corner to give Nuneaton the lead.
The visitors continued to dominate the game and were nearly rewarded when Shanks played a lovely through ball to the returning Kaziboni whose shot cannoned off the bar shortly before half-time.
Boro made a triple change at half-time but
it was the home side who came out hungry for an equaliser as former Boro man Martin fired a dangerous free-kick that beat Breeden but hit the post and was eventually cleared by Armitage.
With 56 minutes gone Nuneaton managed to claim a second after a free-kick out wide was headed home by McManus at the far post to extend Boro's lead.
The away side were looking to kill the game off with a third and some good skill from Goddard made space for himself just outside the box but his effort clipped the bar and went over.
Boro secured their place in the next round of the cup in the 76th minute. Substitute Benji Adomako whipped a delightful ball into the back post where the waiting Shanks cushioned his shot into the far right corner to cap an impressive debut.
The home side secured a late goal through Martin with six minutes left. After a great save from substitute keeper Callum Smith, he smashed in the rebound to reward Warwick for their hard work on the night.
Boro deservedly secured their passage into the second round with a professional and dominant display.
