Match report courtesy of Matt Jones;
Jimmy Ginnelly's Boro team travelled to Yorkshire to face cousin Jonny's Littletown FC of the West Yorkshire League. Despite heavy rain pre-game, the match survived the weather.
The home side started well, but it was Boro who took an early lead. A short corner played to Butterfield, who found the head of Waite, who got there just before the home keeper to give Boro a 1-0 lead after 9 minutes.
The home side were undeterred though and responded immediately. A cross from the right caught out Castle and the header at the back post across goal hit the other post and squirmed just over the line before being cleared off it. 1-1 after 12 mins.
The game was evenly matched for a while, but Boro went into the ascendancy and on 29 mins, Furlong again whipped in a very good cross, which found a totally unmarked Tomlinson, who had time to turn and slot the ball into the corner. 2-1 to the Boro.
Half time Littletown 1-2 Boro.
The 2nd half was a chance to rotate the teams, which limited chances. However, the Boro did manage to find a 3rd goal as a pass down the right wing was mis-kicked by the home defender, and Nirennold was quick to latch on to the loose ball, getting there just ahead of the home keeper to slot home from the corner of the box on 67 mins.
Full time Littletown 1-3 Boro.
Littletown gave a very good account of themselves against higher opposition and we wish them the best for this season.
