Match report by Owen Jephcote;
Berkhamsted's debut game in the Southern League Premier Central was a physical encounter with last seasons play-off finalists Nuneaton Borough.
In a game which was heavily influenced by the decisions of the official, Eduard Toiny-Pendred opened his account for the season with the first goal for the hosts coming from a looping header from the wide man dipping just under the bar of Liam Castle's goal.
Nuneaton struggled to find any form in the opening half an hour with multiple misplaced passes. The opening opportunity for the visitors came from full back Jaden Charles who advanced down the left hand side before flashing a powerful effort wide of the post.
Half Time 1-0
Just moments into the second half, Max Bustamente doubled The Comrades lead smashing past Castle at his left post.
Boro soon upped the tempo when substitute Matt Stenson made his way onto the pitch, with the striker scoring after being on for just five minutes. A bullet header from close range nestled into the back of the net after a Jaden Charles corner. Nuneaton’s goalkeeper Liam Castle would be shown the red card after bursting out of his eighteen yard box before attempting to head the ball but taking out the front man in the process. The referee was in no doubt over his decision sprinting over to the shot stopper and brandishing the red car.
Nuneaton full-back Jaden Charles was then forced to don the gloves for the final few minutes of the game with the visiting side having no substitute keeper named on the bench.
