We got underway with an unchanged starting 11 that got the win on Tuesday night and went out to try and claim another 3 points. Both teams started very compact with the Boro sitting back looking for opportunities to counter particularly down the right hand side. Due to it being a tight game, within the first half hour we saw tackles flying in and yellow cards being picked up by Kyle Storer, Matty Stenson and Telford’s Fraser Kerr.
As a result of the Boro’s counter attacking style of play, a few chances opened up on the edge of the area for Telford, which saw one superbly saved by Jezeph and another long distance effort from Byron Moore just glance over the bar.
As we got closer towards half time, the Boro started to attack more, however Telford caught them out down the left hand side on the counter then, after pulling the ball back to Jordan Piggot, his effort was deflected and ended up in the far corner, giving the home side the lead.
After 6 minutes had been added on at the end of the half, the half time whistle blew and the Boro found themselves trailing 1-0 at the break.
Telford kicked off for the second half and started quickly with ex-Boro man, Ricardo Dinanga, cutting inside and shooting. However, his effort was dragged wide of the post. In the 51st minute, Rowe-Turner gave away a penalty after a mis-timed tackle that was blasted home with power leaving Jezeph with no chance and doubling the home side's lead to 2-0.
Storer was soon brought off due to an injury and was replaced by Butterfield to try and swing the game and start a Nuneaton comeback. However, that hope was short lived as, after a Scott McManus pass was blocked, Montel Gibson was able to go through one on one and calmly finished into the far right corner, giving the home side a comfortable 3-0 cushion. Yafai was then replaced by Tomlinson to try and get the Boro back in the game but, as the clock hit the hour mark, Telford won a corner that was floated in. Orrin Pendley found himself with a free header that he directed into the top corner making it 4-0.
Camron McWilliams was then brought on for McManus who seemed like he had given his all. 6 minutes later, a free kick was given away that was struck round the wall towards goal. Jezeph was able to get a hand to it but not enough to keep it out, therefore making it 5-0 to the home team.
As the game started to peter out, a free kick was taken quickly, catching Boro off guard and Tre Mitford found the far top corner with a superb strike meaning Telford could extend their lead to 6.
Towards the end of the game, there was one last moment of magic from ex-Boro player Ricardo Dinanga who, after dodging tackles and cutting through defenders, slotted the ball past the wrong-footed Jezeph, making it 7-0 in the 89th minute.
After a brief period of added time, the referee blew his whistle putting an end to what had been a miserable day for Nuneaton, who were beaten by the better side.
