Boro looked dangerous in the opening few minutes as forward Kane Richards had the first chance of the game with his effort being spilled by the goalkeeper, before he reacted quickly to recover.

Later in the half, Richards was denied yet again only this time by the linesman’s flag as his attempt to get in behind the defence was just mis-timed leading to him being offside.

Boro were forced to make an early change as Luke Curtlin replaced the injured Camron McWilliams, before the hosts took the lead ten minutes later as the clock struck 35 minutes. A close range effort from full back Mensah nestled into the far corner.

Minutes later, Nuneaton looked to equalise through the returning Callum Chettle but his powerful shot from distance was saved by the keeper.

On the stroke of half time, Richards was once again through on goal, after a nice ball in behind from Curtlin. Richards was brought to ground by the home side’s goalkeeper, although the referee quickly waved away the penalty shouts.

Boro were forced into yet another substitution at half time with Osbourne picking up an injury and needing to be replaced by Beau Friel. Just before the hour, The Ives doubled their lead through Williams, after Jezeph took the sting out of the initial shot but it trickled over the line. On 67 minutes, another goal was added to the tally as former Boro man Michael Richens squeezed the ball past Jezeph at his near post. Boro made their third and final change as Dan Edmonds replaced player-manager Kyle Storer.
