Nuneaton Borough claimed their first away win of the season after a 3-1 victory at Bromsgrove Sporting.

Heads were low after Tuesday nights disappointing defeat to Peterborough Sports, after going 1-0 up in the game, there was a lot of frustration once the home side turned it on its head and claimed three points.
Boro were traveling to Bromsgrove with a poor away record, with no away win all season, it was important that the tide starts to turn, starting with Saturday afternoon.

Bromsgrove Sporting came out the blocks on fire in the first half, after a period of relentless pressure, Boro looked shaky at the back with numerous mistakes occuring.

Constant Sporting pressure was rewarded on 12 minutes when Boro failed to clear a corner at the second attempt, leaving Tom Taylor with a gift inside the box. With the home side in the lead, it was once again looking bleak for Boro on the road.

Once Bromsgrove took the lead at the Victoria Ground, Boro seemed to wake up as the response was lively. A wave of attacking football won a free kick from the right hand side on 26 minutes, which lead to Luke Benbow whipping in a delightful ball met by the head of Joel Kettle. It was all square against the odds in the West Midlands.

After the equaliser, Boro were in control of proceedings at the Victoria Ground, the main reason for Boro's possession was due to midfield battles and runners off the ball in wide areas.

As the half time whistle approached, Nuneaton were the happier side and with numerous positive counter attacks, Boro were going to be pushing for a winner in the second half.

Both teams had positive starts to the second period and half chances were created for both outfits. Just 8 minutes into the second half, Alex Henshall made it 2-1 to Boro and it was relief on the touchline.

A counter attack concluded with Devon Kelly-Evans charging down the right hand side before firing a low ball into the box which was met by Henshall, who passed into an empty net. For the first time in the game, Boro had a lead to hold.

Bromsgrove were fighting back after going 2-1 down but Boro were remaining resilient in defence, holding a stubborn defensive structure. Despite the pressure from the home side, Callum Powell wrapped it up for Boro on 77 minutes.

After cutting in off the left hand side, the winger fired a shot towards goal which looped over the goalkeeper with the aid of a deflection. The forward won't care how it went in, his side were about to claim their first three points of the season on the road.

After the referee blew his whistle for full time, Nuneaton Borough had finally managed to secure their first three points of the season away from Liberty Way. A huge win for Jimmy Ginnelly’s men and with the points in the bag, a feeling of optimism is growing around the Boro camp.
