Barwell 0 Boro 1

Ten man Nuneaton Borough earnt their second away win of the season after overcoming Jimmy Ginnelly's old side Barwell with a battling 1-0 display.

The play-offs remain alive for Boro after a well-fought result. After being reduced to ten men early in the second half it means debutant Jordan Goddard will miss a section of the Christmas period as he serves his ban.

Both sides struggled to make an impact in the early stages but it was the home side who made the first impact. Tony Breeden delivered two fine saves to stop the deadlock from being broken. Williams and Whitmore tried their luck but the Boro shot stopper was alert.

Breeden was alive again for Boro after a superb save from a free-kick. Hickey tried his luck but was denied by the Nuneaton number one.

Boro announced themselves into the game just prior to the half hour mark. Powell cut in onto his favoured right foot but his shot trickled wide of the goal.

Shortly after, Bremang opened his account in blue and white. Byrne played a delightful ball into Burroughs who fired across goal for Bremang to finish from close range.

It should have been two for Boro and Bremang on the stroke of half-time. A curling ball from Powell found the teenage forward who side footed wide.

Boro were reduced to ten men early in the second half with Goddard heading for an early bath. A late tackle on Whitmore meant the Barwell man left the stadium on a stretcher.

With over a hour played, Breeden provided another top save. Hickey thought he had levelled for his side but was denied by Breeden.

Kai Williams should have levelled for the home side but a lack of composure cost the forward. His attempt from close range flashed over the bar.

Ten man Boro were struggling to control the game but superb play from Powell was rewarded with a penalty just shy of 70 minutes. The winger stepped up from the spot but Bramley came out on top for Barwell to deny the number seven.

The latter stages were dominated by the home side. Several chances fell to the Canaries but Boro remained stubborn in defence.

In added time Ryan Edmunds had a wonderful chance to secure maximum points. Benbow found the forward in the box but his chance was put over the bar.

The full-time whistle blew and Boro had secured a vital away victory.
