Borough earned a point against Hednesford Town in a tight 1-1 draw at a bitterly cold Liberty Way. An Anthony Dwyer goal wasn’t enough to seal all three points for the Boro.
Hednesford looked lively in the opening exchanges as they took the game to Boro with some neat passing.
But it was the hosts who managed to put themselves in front after only 21 minutes. Anthony Dwyer was able to smash home from close range after an Edmunds cross aimed at the back post was nodded down to the Boro striker who wasted no time in bagging his sixth goal of the campaign.
Only four minutes later Hednesford thought they had drawn level when Lycett was played through one on one down the right and subsequently drilled his shot towards the far post. His effort was well saved by the foot of debutant Boro keeper Bradley Foster before being cleared by Osbourne.
Hednesford continued to press with Boro looking to hit them on the break.
In the 40th minute the visitors got back on level terms after a free-kick from deep was launched into the back post before being headed in by Kyle Rowley.
HT: 1-1
In the second-half Boro looked more of a threat as the game evened out.
That said the away side still forced several saves out of Boro's young keeper, Foster.
Boro had periods of sustained pressure as the game wore on but the visitors defence repelled their attacks.
However, it was Nuneaton who had the best chance of the half when, in the 86th minute, a corner was whipped in and found McCrory at the back post. His headed effort flew inches wide of the post leaving the Boro captain, and the frozen home support, frustrated.
