Boro secured their first win in six league games with a sweet victory over local rivals Tamworth, Danny King and Anthony Dwyer grabbed the all important goals.
Boro should of taken the lead just three minutes into the local derby, a ball chipped in from the left found Dan Bradley free in the box but he was unable to steer his header on target.
The game settled into a fairly even contest with both sides looking strong going forwards.
In a tight contest it was always going to boil down to which side would take their chances on the day.
Boro were rewarded for their early pressure when Danny King drew first blood in the 22nd minute. A well delivered corner caused panic in the visitors defence and King pounced on the loose ball to fire it through a crowd of players.
The game remained finely balanced with both teams defences just doing enough to thwart promising attacks.
Nuneaton should of doubled their lead 5 minutes before the break as Dan Bradley played a beautiful cross into King but his shot flew inches past the post. Then, on the stroke of half-time, Tamworth missed a great opportunity to level the scores. Shaquille McDonald raced through one-on-one but he scuffed his effort wide with the home rearguard appealing for offside.
HT: 1-0
The second-half started scrappily although the game wasn’t helped by the wet conditions. Nuneaton had the first big chance of the half on 52 minutes. Osbourne fired a great ball across the box to a sliding Dwyer who was inches away from making contact.
Both sides had chances before the defining moment of the match came on 66 minutes.
Boro were awarded a penalty when Kaziboni drove down the right wing and was brought down as he smartly checked back.
Dwyer stepped up and emphatically fired his penalty straight down the middle to put Boro two goals to the good.
Boro now took control and were close to adding a third with several chances going begging.
With 10 minutes to go Tamworth keeper Jas Singh produced a fine save after a powerful effort from Lita was heading for the top right corner.
Two minutes later Tamworth almost pulled one back as a well drilled effort smashed against the right post.
Nuneaton saw out the remaining eight minutes and ran out deserved victors in an enthralling local derby in which they created the better chances.
