To all Old Eds including our Academy,
Clearly CoronaVirus is impacting the Club in a number of ways.
Our first concern is the safety and welfare of all Club Members and we fully support the Government advice to everyone.
The RFU has cancelled rugby playing and related activity until 14th April. What happens for the rest of the season is unclear. However, even if there are no further matches, our First and Second Teams have already had seasons to be proud of.
The Committee is reviewing forthcoming Events and has already cancelled the Under 17’s Tournament (26th April). The Beer Festival (11th July) is under review and an alternative date later in the year is under consideration.
Our Treasurer is working hard to minimise outgoings for the foreseeable future and seeing where the Government’s measures to help clubs and businesses can help. For example, the suspension of business rates, and the availability of grants.
The Friday Farts have a number of ‘at risk’ members and are urged to follow Government advice and scale back on their efforts – clearly as there will be no matches, the weekly workload is reduced anyway.
Let’s remember that we are a Club and should be doing all we can to help each other. Do not hesitate to reach out if, for example, you are self-isolating and need support with shopping etc.
As a Club we will get through this and come out stronger.
Let’s stay in touch and do not hesitate to raise issues or ideas!
