Fifty junior members and growing!

Every Friday evening at 5.30 the village green in Mannings Heath is awash with groups of children from 7-13. The air is filled with bursts of laughter and chatter. With now over 50 junior members in regular attendance and more enquiries each week, our cricket coaches and coach support workers are working hard to help our juniors develop. We are proud to be supported most weeks by Adam Maharaj-Newman from Sussex Cricket who helps step up our learning even further.

Each week three trophies are awarded to our cricketers of the week which recognise excellent improvement, skills, behaviour and performance. Well done to our winners so far, we look forward to rewarding many more children in the coming weeks.

Progress is being made, so much so that we are now organising matches for our various age groups against other junior cricket teams in the area. Our first match is at Trinity Cricket Club on 26th June for the under 11s closely followed by our under 9s first game on the 27th at Billingshurst – we hope that they enjoy putting all their skills into practice.

Two of our junior players (Myles Todman and Ben Rymarz) were recently given the great honour of playing for the adult team. The boys did the Juniors proud and were a credit to the team and their coaches. Well done boys!

We have a great network of coaches, coach support workers and other volunteers ranging from local teenagers to the more “mature” Nutters and parents who turn up each week to make every Friday night a fun and enjoyable experience. We extend our sincere thanks to each and every one of them who give up their Friday evenings to make them what they are.
