No Tour Hangover
The Nutters excellent season continued on Sunday, with a resounding win against Angmering.

Batting first, Nuthurst got off to a solid start with openers, Sir Guy Ekins and Jonny Willis. This was despite the best efforts of Tim Faulkner, who probably lost count of the number of times that his right arm swing bowling passed the outside edge of Willis' bat. Ekins (56), played his usual imperious innings, putting on 113 before the fall of the first wicket. Willis made the most of his good fortune and reached 51 before losing his wicket with The Nutters stationary at 113.

Skipper Samways began by playing his usual game of 'Find The Fielder' and was joined by a bullish, Buzz McKenna. McKenna blitzed his way to 23 before playing about a day too early at a straight delivery from Hilton, having taken the total to 150. Ably supported by David Thompson in at no 5, Samways began to relax and play a fine array of shots, culminating in a steep-ling 6 to reach his 50. The Nutters reached 215-3 in the allotted time, with Samways (51) and Thompson (16) the not out batsmen.

Following a gargantuan tea, courtesy of Jonty Greenwood, it was back to the job in hand. Both Prior and Singh were on the mark from the outset, as the Angmering top order struggled to cope. Batsmen Fautner and Hughes made early exits as the first four wickets fell for just 23 runs. An equal share for the bowlers, which included yet another scintillating catch at first slip, this time, by Ekins.

Prior (5-1-2-11) unfortunately pulled up and was replaced by Greenwood and Weston took up the mantle from Singh. Due to some jiggery pokery from The Skipper, to shuffle the bowlers to their preferred ends, 11 year old, Ben Caiden, was introduced into the attack and immediately made an impact. He looked every bit the seasoned campaigner, taking two quick wickets, both catches to Prior in the slips. A very fine first spell for The Nutters of 5-2-2-24 and his Father, Mike, fielding like a demon to ensure the these figures weren't compromised. Caidan Jnr was also responsible for Keeper, Jeff Lightyear, copping an unfortunate one on the eyebrow following a rogue bounce.

Greenwood and Weston (7-1-2-31) toiled away, with Greenwood bowling Richard Hughes, then catching Mitchell off the bowling of Weston. He also provided this weeks comedy moment, by offering a very loud appeal for a catch behind, while his bemused team mates stood motionless. As soon as the tumbleweed cleared, Weston bowled Faulkner.

With the last pair at the crease and 15 overs left to play, the Nutters could have been forgiven for expecting an early bath. However, Paddy Chapman and Harry Hughes had other ideas. They played an extremely entertaining last wicket stand together of 57. With four overs remaining, Chapman hoisted a ball to point with the score on 168. Who should be waiting, but Ben Caidan. Completely un-phased, he calmly gathered in the catch to complete a memorable match and give Muffin Singh his third wicket of the day. Chapman had contributed a thoroughly entertaining knock of 39, ably supported by Hughes, not out on 12.
